FC Goa have not lost in their last three matches as they are scheduled to face unbeaten SC East Bengal in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium in Bombay on Wednesday.  Under Derrick Perera, FC Goa have not really exploded into life, but the veteran coach has managed to remain unbeaten in their last three games, drawing 1-1 against North East United FC in their final match.  Despite not having the likes of Edu Bedia and Ivan Gonzalez against North East United, George Ortiz looked very sharp for the Gaurs. With Wednesday's win, Goa will advance from the bottom half of the table and close the gap of the top four as they enjoy their chances against SC East Bengal.

“I did not want to change much when I came.  We maintained the same formation, 3-4-3 system, but adjusted the structure and the boys responded well.  There is always room for improvement and we will do well in the days to come, "Perera said the day before.

Speaking about the opponents, Perera added, "Defensively, they have fought well in the last three matches.  Instead of focusing more on them, we look at the details that make them better and break down their defenses while at the same time maintaining a good balance to counter their attacks.  This is just another game, we have to go with a plan and get the best result.

ISL 2021-22: FC Goa Lodge formal complaint against refereeing standards in two matches

The Indian Super League (ISL) Club FC Goa has formally complained to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Referees Department about the quality of refereeing in the top division and sought clarification on some of the decisions taken in the matches against the club.  Kerala Blasters and North East United on January 2, 2022 and January 14, 2022 respectively. In their previous match against North East United FC, FC Goa drew 1-1 but conceded a goal following a foul on the box, even when the FC Goa player was nowhere near the goalkeeper to make a foul.

The club have sought clarity on a number of decisions in both games, including the cancellation of a goal in their last game against North East United, which would have put the team one goal ahead with 10 minutes left in the game.

"The team also sought clarification on the team's decision not to award a penalty against the Kerala Blasters.

Speaking on the subject, FC Goa Football Director Ravi Puskur said, “We are saddened by the level of refereeing that the team has undergone.  We treat referees with the utmost respect and always take into account a margin of error in tight calls.  However, since the beginning of the year, there have been two clear decisions in two different games, indicating the level of decisions that have demonstrated that they are below the required and required standards of professional football.  This has clearly adversely affected our point level so far this season and we owe it to our players, staff and fans to seek clarification on that.  We are waiting to hear the response from the referee section.
