Iran are also the first Asian team to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, replacing hosts Qatar. The number of teams that have qualified for the Qatar World Cup has risen to 14.  Iran is the new team to qualify.  Iran qualified by defeating Iraq by a goalless draw. Iran qualified for the World Cup by winning six of seven matches in the third round of qualifying.  Iran has 19 points.  South Korea are second in Group A with 17 points.  With three matches remaining, Iran qualified as the third-placed UAE were far behind.Iran are also the first Asian team to qualify, replacing host Qatar.  This is the third time in a row that Iran has qualified.  The Iranians have hit the ball five times before in the World Cup.


FIFA World Cup 2022 qualification: Dramatic draw for Brazil;  Argentina beat Chile


Brazilian goalkeeper Alison Becker's two red cards and Ecuador's two penalties canceled by  referee Quito: Ecuador vs Brazil in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Round (CONMEBOL).  Both teams scored one goal each.  Brazil took the lead in the sixth minute through Casemiro.  Ecuador's goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez and Brazil defender Emerson Royal were sent off.  Felix Torres scored Ecuador's equalizer in the 75th minute. Brazil's goalkeeper Alison Becker's two red cards and Ecuador's two penalties have been canceled by a video assistant referee.


Brazil, who are top of the Latin American region with 36 points from 16 games, have already qualified for the World Cup.  Ecuador are third with 24 points.  Brazil will face Ecuador without the injured Neymar.  Brazil's next match is against Paraguay on Wednesday. 


In another match in the Latin American region, Argentina defeated Chile by two goals to one.  Argentina's goals were scored by Angel Di Maria and Lauto Mortanes, who replaced Lionel Messi.  DiMaria's goal came in the ninth minute.  Lautero also found the target in the 34th minute.  Chile's scorer was Ben Diaz.  Chile scored in the 20th minute. This is the 28th consecutive match in which Argentina have not lost.  Argentina are second in the region with 32 points from 14 games.  Argentina had already qualified for the World Cup in Qatar.  Argentina's next match is against Colombia on Wednesday.


ISL 2021-22: If they win, they can overtake Kerala Blasters;  Jamshedpur today against Goa

 ISL 2021-22: Hyderabad secures first position by beating Odisha in thrilling battle


Fatorda: Hyderabad FC clinched the top spot in the ISL (ISL 2021-22) by beating Odisha FC by three goals to two.  Odisha led by one goal in the first half.  With the win, Hyderabad secured the top spot with 23 points from 13 matches, while Odisha, who would have topped the table if they had won, remain in seventh position with 17 points. Hyderabad drew level at the start of the second half thanks to a goal from Joel Chience.Jao Victor gave Hyderabad the lead in the 70th minute and scored the second goal.  Shortly afterwards, Aakash Mishra scored Hyderabad's third goal for Odisha.  In the 84th minute, Jonathas Jesus scored another goal to give Odisha the lead but they could not find the equalizer.
