Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Chepauk on Saturday evening - SportsNight

CSK are currently on the brink of qualification, while Kolkata's campaign has been sluggish after a crushing defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous match. CSK players will be seen trying out a new outfit at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Ahead of CSK's final home match of the league stage, the MS Dhoni-led team will be seen flying drones at the iconic venue.

Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in their final home league match of IPL 2023.

Super Kings hold the lead-to-head record against Knight Riders by a comfortable margin and the favorites will start in home conditions on Sunday. Unlike other opponents, CSK has not allowed KKR to gain much foothold in Chennai in the IPL. The last time Knight Riders tasted victory was against the Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the final of the 2012 edition. Chennai is one of the most dominant teams at home in the IPL. In 2023, CSK have lost two of their six home games so far and will be hoping to build on their two-match winning streak in Chepauk. As Punjab Kings chased down 201 runs last month, the pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium seemed to have slowed down. Mumbai Indians managed only 139 runs in the next match and Delhi Capitals could not chase down 168 runs in the final match at the venue. With teams 1 and 2 winning three matches each, not much should be riding on the outcome of the toss.

The head-to-head record between KKR and CSK belongs to Super Kings. The men in yellow have won 18 of the 28 IPL matches played between the two teams.

Meanwhile, KKR managed just nine wins in 2009 with one game out. MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the clash between the two franchises today. Similar to the overall record, Chennai dominated KKR in Chepok too. The venue has hosted nine CSK-KKR IPL encounters. Chennai have lost seven of those nine matches, while KKR have won only two other encounters. Ajinkya Rahane's 29-ball 71 led to a mammoth 235 as MS Dhoni's side defeated Kolkata at the Eden Gardens earlier this season. As for the last five IPL matches between KKR and CSK, the Men in Yellow unit has beaten the Men in Purple team four times. CSK were on a four game winning streak against the Knight Riders before Shreyas Iyer and co pulled off a win in the 2022 tournament opener. Before their IPL 2023 showdown starts, here's a look at the last five Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings matches. CSK have stuck to a settled combination over the last few matches and aren't expected to make many changes as we approach the business end of the league stage. They will look to keep things simple and seal a top-two spot. Much of CSK's success in IPL 2023 has been down to their opening partnership. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, who put on 73 in the reverse fixture, will be vital once again. They will need to be at their best in the powerplay, with KKR bound to introduce their spin trio early.

Shivam Dube has been dealing with an injury that has prevented him from fielding. If he hasn't recovered, he could alternate with either Tushar Deshpande or Maheesh Theekshana as the impact sub.

Ambati Rayudu hasn't been anywhere near his best this season, but he's the kind of player who will play a scintillating knock when it is least expected. MS Dhoni clearly has a lot of faith in the veteran batter, who will be in the spotlight against the Knight Riders. Maheesh Theekshana hasn't been in great form and sent down only two overs in the last game. Mitchell Santner remains an option to replace him, but Dhoni might place faith in Theekshana's mystery and guile one more time against KKR, who have several left-handers in their batting lineup. Star New Zealand batter Devon Conway would be expected to be the best batter in the clash between Chennai and Kolkata. The 31-year-old has been in a league of his own in the ongoing IPL 2023, scoring 468 runs in 11 matches so far. The four-time champions would expect Conway to be at the top of his game in the next game.
